The GBT has identified inadequate supply of books as a major weakness in Ghana’s educational institutions and seeks to address this problem with the supply of donated books to schools and libraries. GBT has worked with the International Book Bank, Books for Africa, Sabre Foundation and Book Aid International but now receives books from Books for Africa and Hungry Book Worm, both in the USA.

The "Reading Ghana" Program |

The program is sponsored by CODE, a Canadian NGO. The goal is to increase children’s ability to read. The activities are:
1.1 Training in the Teaching of Reading This takes place at workshops for lower primary teachers to enhance their skills in language development and learning to read.

CODE provides funds for GBT to procure appropriate Ghanaian books. These are donated alongside the imported books to primary schools in a geographical area of concentration and rural community libraries. Currently this program is in the Amansie West and Kwabre Districts of the Ashanti region. |

Training in Library Management |
|
The head teachers of schools which have rooms to allocate to libraries are trained in library management to enable them to organize the libraries. Fifty schools are targeted yearly in the geographical area of concentration.

Supply of Library Furniture |
|
Schools in the geographical area of concentration which have libraries are provided with library furniture.ie shelves, tables and chairs for the creation of the libraries.
